READING, WRITING

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says Roman coins became widely accepted and trusted, even in the far reaches of the Roman Empire, by the 1st Century AD.  The basic coin was called "dinarius" and that name was adopted as "dinars" by several countries, and is still the currency for Jordan, Iraq, Serbia, Tunisia, and others.

Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says that my BRAND includes only those parts of me that pertain to my writing.  (e.g., it does not include that I like soft pillows to sleep on.)
IOW, a BRAND is a PART of me; not ALL of me.  And it's only those parts of me that are important to my audience/my writing.

OK, I don't feel like writing anything more, except to say that I'm deeply disappointed that D Day did not occur Monday or Tuesday.

ADDITIONAL NOTE, BASED ON email received from David 1 hour ago, and read just now:

I had anticipated that the "fabulous funding amounts" David mentioned over the last several years (is it 6 or 7 by now?).... would likely NOT be so high.  In fact, I speculated that there would be others in the chain who would be given higher amounts, and David and "lowly Ken"  would be allocated minimal amounts.  That seems now to be the case.

David's colleagues are again delaying the distribution of funds until January, probably toward the end of January.  I'm glad I officially extended the forebearance on payments of my 2 mortgages on my AL house.
But even if the D-DAY does in fact occur in January, the amount I will begin earning will likely be minimal.

So, I'm still disappointed.  And if I return to CA on January 6 - 7 (or so), I'll miss the first money date (January 11).

So, I hope there really IS some solid indication that money will begin flowing on January 11, so that I can extend my stay in UT for a week, and David and I can have that champagne toast we've been anticipating for the last year or so.

Decided to do both squats and push-ups every day, until I'm 100% back in the swing (i.e., 70 each on alternating days)


READING, WRITING

Read 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says coins were "guaranteed" to have the content marked by the sovereign whose name also appeared on the coin.  People readily believed it because they believed in "King So-and-so."

Read 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says I need to make myself "unforgettable," and that is done by making myself stand out among all the "noise."  It's not 100% of me.  It's a PART of me that makes me stand out, and makes me memorable.  It's what makes me, me.

If I were now to list the things that make me, me...... what would they be?
Many muddled thoughts come to mind:
*  You're nothing special (Dad once told me)
*  I don't know many people who thing those kinds of thoughts (a girl said to me, in college)
*  You sound so wise (Judy Green said to me, in High School)
*  You ARE a loving human being (David said recently, when I told him what my current affirmation is)
*  Not as good as Ken (Teresa said when she described my piano playing ability, in college)
*  Loser (Doug Yates called me, during my "Graham Smith years," early in my marriage)

Well, I guess I could continue searching my memory for things other people said to describe me.

But I'm guessing that Jeff Goins is thinking that I should describe myself.  Funny (or sad?) how my first thoughts were what others think of me.  Maybe it's important, since if I'm creating a BRAND, I necessarily must address what others think of me.

"What do you care about what others think of you?" asked John Whitman, Grade 10 English teacher.  I silently retorted, "I care a LOT about what other people think, and that's important when you're getting grades and competing with others."  But he was right, ultimately.  I should not dwell on what others --- MIGHT --- think about me.  I should focus on what "I" think about me.  At least for now.

So..... what DO I think about myself?  WRT a BRAND, anyway?  What makes me "unforgettable?"  "Memorable."

Carlos Rubio would say it's my kisses.  George would likely give a "composite" profile - physical and spiritual..... Really, George's impressions are multi-faceted.

THERE I GO AGAIN!!!!  Those are things OTHERS would say.

READING, WRITING

Read 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says that around 640 BC in Australia, the first coins struck in history were struck.  They were called Lydian coins, after the king of Lydia.  They removed the need for a merchant to constantly weigh ingots of silver or gold; they were stamped with the exact content & guaranteed by the King/government.

Read 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says I need to create a "brand" for myself; and the brand is both who I am, and also my better, truer self.  IOW, the real me.  And how do I establish my brand?  BY MAKING MYSELF MEMORABLE.

**  It's been over a month since I read from these books.  But my memory is ok - I can still recall reading the last paragraphs I read back then.  So it's not all that catastrophic that I didn't read for over a month.  It's disturbing, though, in that I have not made too much progress.

But today's a new day.  I'm starting on 12/27 so that I can be up and running on January 1st.  I want to move into 2021 already doing these things, so I won't hurt so much (exercise) or be "disconnected" so much (reading, writing).

I have a lot to do, and today is a good day for me to begin again, since it's a day of rest, and I have no obligations to be anywhere.
