Observations about my life:
Since 2-3 grade, when I learned to read, I found reading to be a chore. I've seldom found much pleasure in it. I enjoy some books (e.g., The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn), and find other books (e.g., The Righteous Mind) to be a chore.
I'm always wondering why they wrote it the way they did, and if what they wrote is still valid today, and why they chose certain words & phrases, and who else has read this book, and what they thought of it, and what *I* think of it, and whether I'll share it with my friends, or buy a copy for my children....... all that in stead of just reading it & absorbing the messages therein.
LOL. What should I do now about reading? I'll continue plowing through the books I'd like to read (whether due to the style of the author, the relative importance of the content, or the recommendations of friends - e.g., David T, George M, Joseph P, and others)
But today, my routine was interrupted by an annoying leak in the kitchen ceiling. I'm waiting for Chad to wake up so we can find out what to do about it.
