READING, WRITING
Read for 80 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari. He further explores what makes us happy, and gives examples of 3rd world v 1st world countries, where unhappiness abounds no matter what people look like, or how long they can expect to live.
Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He recalls pondering the dilemma of the recession (2008) and how he would approach it, having met with unhappy/laid-off workers on the campaign trail. And now he was more in a position to help them, and wondered how he would do it.
Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt. He says morality has evolved in both expected and unexpected ways; generosity to kin is unsurprising; generosity to non-kin is unexplainable. Perhaps it has to do with genes and evolution, but he doesn't know for sure (another theory & PHD).
Read for 80 seconds in MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING by Viktor Frankl. He says paradoxical intention (e.g., trying to fall asleep, but the anxiety of not being able to sleep is keeping you awake) is cured by making efforts to NOT do what one wants ultimately to do. It might take decades, but it will work.
