VISUALIZATION
I visualize myself, tomorrow, weighing less than I do today. Today I weigh 199.0
EXERCISE
Did my full base-70 routine for Wednesday, 20200527 (- Kathleen's birthday -):
- ankle/wrist circles 70
- toe/finger stretches 70
- bicycle crunches 70
- shoulder rolls 70
- inversion table 3 70-second sets
- push-ups 70 (35 + 25 + 10)
YAY! Not bad after 2 1/2 months "off" - I put that in quotes since I DID do SOME exercise with Joe, shoveling gravel for his back yard.
READING, WRITING
Read 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari. He says (quotes, likely) that "biology enables, culture forbids." He points out that culture (i.e., religion) claims that it forbids only that which is not "natural."
That recalls my discussion with my older sister Kathleen, whose birthday it is today - she would have been 76, when we discussed birth control I was a believing Mormon, and so was she. But we differed on birth control. She was taking birth control pills, and I disapproved, saying it wasn't "natural." She asked me what I would recommend. I replied, "abstinence." (!!!!!!!) And her retort was, "That isn't 'natural' either!"
I had no answer. She was right.
Harari further says that anything that is possible is necessarily natural. Biology does not prohibit men from having sex with each other; some cultures do.
Cultures do not prohibit women from running faster than the speed of light. Biology does.
Interesting observations! Makes me feel better to have considered these ideas.
Read 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins. He says that I should develop the habit of writing every day, and that it should begin with "I am a writer." BUT, he adds, I should give it a twist:
I CHOOSE TO WRITE FOR ONE - AND ONLY ONE - PERSON: MYSELF.
So now, I will write that in my notebook for today. (DONE!)
I'm gratified to know that the fountain pen George gave me still works perfectly (after taking 2 1/2 months off).
I'm also remembering Kathy, my older sister, to whom I was closest while growing up, and to whom I owe my appreciation and dedication to speaking and writing correctly.
This day is starting out well. I decided to resume my routine (SLLLAVERS), and was able to do my full exercise routine. I have eaten a "bunch" of unhealthy food over the last 13 weeks, and so I am fasting today (water fast, 2 meals; I'll have a quiche tonight, unless I've already gone to the store for veggies & fruit. I will substitute oranges for orange juice.
I'd love my routine to be disrupted by a request from David to fly back to SLC. Fat chance!
So for now, I'll keep on keeping on with my routine, and hope I can figure out who t make things work financially, while I stay close to and love my family.
OTHER NOTES:
Teeth: I am treating my teeth with whitener; about 1 1/2 years ago, my dentist gave me whitener & some upper & lower "trays" which I used. His original instruction was to do it every day for 2 hours. That worked VERY well, and my next visit, he said to cut back to 2 hours, once a MONTH.
So, since I've neglected it, I'm going to do the following:
2 hours every 15 days (or, "every other Wednesday"):
May 27
June 10
June 24
July 8
etc.
