Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says that the oldest Empire of which we have definitive evidence was The Akkadian Empire in the Middle East area; the king was King Sargon, who boasted that he'd conquered the entire world (2250 BC).  So it continued for almost 2,000 years; some "kings of the world" showed some compassion for their conquered peoples and their cultures.


Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says I should launch a blog, and that it should be specifically FOR BECOMING A WRITER.  He gets into the nuts and bolts of how to do it; it's a fast-changing world (i.e., being a writer today, "on-line").  He says a blog will be a first step to make a connection between me and the rest of the world who might want to read what I write.


Read for 30 minutes in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He describes the events leading up to his win in the Iowa caucus; he debated and competed with Hillary Clinton, but the "best" for him, the thing that made him cry, was what he achieved in the pre-caucus rallying:  a true cross section of the America he longed for:  old and young, male and female, all there to support his ideal:  a true unification of the spirits of Americans as we strive for a better Union.  That makes ME cry, too.

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says Empires all benefited from their conquered countries:  for example, the Hapsburg Empire conquered adjoining lands, and used the proceeds to fund Mozart's & Hayden's musical endeavors.

Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says nowadays, writers choose themselves for publishing.  No longer must they write and submit and hope to be recognized and published.  Now they publish themselves.  It's still hard, but it's faster (no more "lifetime of waiting to be discovered."  It took Jeff about 8 months).

Read for 30 minutes in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He describes how the idea of running for POTUS came to him.  He'd won a US Senate seat for Illinois, and was wildly popular nation-wide.  He considered others who were contemplating a run for POTUS - all were more seasoned politicians than was BO at the time (including Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton).  But others suggested and he assimilated the idea.... I can see this is leading up to a really serious POTUS run.

Read for 12 more pages in THE SONG OF ACHILLES by Madeline Miller.  She describes Achilles as an alluring god, and Patroclus, a mere mortal former prince, and how they met and interacted.  I'm not quite sure if Achilles' character is meant to be a god, or if he was just a super-perfect human being that the former prince deeply admired in every way.  I can't help but wonder, as a gay man, if these two will connect sexually; however it flows, I will enjoy the evolution of their relationship.

David talked to Michael today, and then he told me that he expects the mine sale to take place by March 15; and that if it does not, they have 2 other offers lined up for "the same amount."

I told him I'm flying to SLC to help J & C out during their COVID ordeal; I will be flying there tomorrow, at the expense of Teresa's frequent flier miles account.  She's a good and decent woman; I've often wished some straight man had come along to love her as only a straight man could.

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says empires left their marks by conquering, pillaging, laying waste, and then..... "peace."  He particularly notes that if David (of the Bible) could see how Orthodox Jews live today, he would be bewildered.


Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says building a CHANNEL is essential to success as a writer.  Once that (and all the preceding steps:  build a platform, create a brand, establish connections with others) is done, things start to happen:
1)  Book deals (without a proposal)
2)  Offers to write for a magazine (without a query letter)
3)  Money
4)  Free stuff (like books & products)
5)  Interview opportunities
6)  Chances to connect with other writers and influential people

Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says I need to build my brand, my image, my audience, my whole persona through my OWN CHANNEL.  I can't be borrowing other people's channels; I need my own.

NEW MONTH'S RESOLUTIONS
❤FEBRUARY❤ RESULTS:
1) Eat less ✅ (I cut out all between-meal food.)
2) Exercise more✅ (I did my in-home exercise routine 4 days/week)
3) Lose ANOTHER 5 pounds by February 28✅ (I'm 10 pounds lighter than I was on January 1st.)
4) Read a new book✅ (began & am still reading A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.)
These resolutions were simple & painless. I highly recommend this approach.
So here are my NEW MONTH'S RESOLUTIONS FOR 🍀MARCH🍀:
1) Eat healthy - eat only fruits & vegetables for 2 meals/day.
2) Exercise more - Do in-home exercise routine 5 days/week.
3) Lose ANOTHER 5 pounds by March 31
4) Read a NEW book
5) Starting tomorrow!

So...... so far, I'm on target:

1) Brunch: fruit smoothie
2) Exercise routine: done
3) Lost 0.6 pounds since yesterday
4) Reading extra in A PROMISED LAND (ongoing); new book: THE SONGE OF ACHILLES by Madeline Miller (hope to start & finish by March 31)
