Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He remembers giving his Cairo speech in which he presented his vision, which for him was near 100% optimism about the future, both near & long term. His critics and some supporters doubted he could actually achieve all of it. He recalled Vaclav Havel's pessimistic missive: by raising expectations, we are doomed to disappoint them.
Post speech they visited the pyramids and the sphinx.

Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt. He says, in observing the "bigger evolutionary video over the time space we know of" (this is MY description of what JH is doing), we see that organisms evolve with only about 8 or so major transitions. One was when wasps & the like began to select a queen and other wasps became workers. a "superorganism" appeared (I.e., the queen), and the drones appeared: all were "happy" to be what they had become - they did not rise up in rebellion. JH further says that a transition in our day is "human societies." MY THOUGHT/QUESTION: is Trump a superorganism? Was Hitler? Was Alexander the Great?
