READING, WRITING

Read for 60 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says life in medieval times was determined by social heirarchy, not by much else.  A teenager then slept in a hall with others, and learned his place by social mores - there was no place for individualism then.

I'm wondering if Harari is overlapping some ideas over time, and possibly misunderstanding how things really were.  He might be ignoring a huge swath of time or space that could - not necessarily did - make a difference in the way things evolved.

Qui sait???

Comme toujours.

Today is move the fridge day.  I'm going to be very careful.

20191018 VIENNA

Vienna
Slow down, you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart, then tell me
Why are you still so afraid?
Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You'd better cool it off before you burn it out
You've got so much to do
And only so many hours in a day
But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want or you get old
You're gonna kick off before you even
Get halfway through
When will you realize, Vienna waits for you
Slow down, you're doing fine
You can't be everything you want to be
Before your time
Although it's so romantic on the borderline tonight
Tonight,
Too bad but it's the life you lead
You're so ahead of yourself that you forgot what you need
Though you can see when you're wrong, you know
You can't always see when you're right. you're right
You've got your passion, you've got your pride
But don't you know that only fools are satisfied?
Dream on, but don't imagine they'll all come true
When will you realize, Vienna waits for you?
Slow down, you crazy child
And take the phone off the hook and disappear for awhile
It's all right, you can afford to lose a day or two
When will you realize, Vienna waits for you?
And you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want or you can just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get half through
Why don't you realize, Vienna waits for you
When will you realize, Vienna waits for you?

(today, I'm at 191.2; I have NOT lost weight; rather, I've gained.  Now I have approx 20 days to lose 16 pounds, or 1.25 pounds per day)

EXERCISE

Did my full (almost) month routine for Wednesday October 2nd:

  1. ankle/wrist circles 70
  2. toe/finger stretches 70
  3. bicycle crunches 70
  4. (INVERSION TABLE - NOT AVAILABLE)
  5. shoulder rolls 70
  6. push-ups 62 (1 set 35, 1 set to fail at 27)
READING, WRITING

Read for 60 seconds in THE SONG OF ACHILLES by Madeline Miller.  She describes the first memories Achilles has of when he "participated" in the Olympic (?) games.  He was not a participant, but rather an official, alongside his father, who grudgingly acknowledged Achilles (A from now on) as his son who had no other reason to be there.

**********

I do not know what motivated me to do my routine/get up/do more routine this morning.  I think it could be very simple:  I had gone for several days without bathing, and last night I felt a bit sick.  So, when I woke at around 6AM this morning, I wondered if I'd have enough time to shower before the rest of Joe's family got up.

Well, I "chanced it" and here I am, "all done," and they're all still sleeping.

Amazing what you can do when you allow yourself to be a slave to good habits.  I recently explained my routine (mostly the exercise part) to 2 people (Steve Wright and Larry Mann), and they both were taking note of it, adding that it was "inspirational.."  I hope so.  They are both close friends, and I care about their welfare.

So, now it's onward to greet the day with love in my heart as I interact with my loved ones.
