20161130 WRITINGS FOR TODAY

OK, so it's 9pm, and I just completed my 15 Affirmations for today.  I would have done it this morning, but I had left this laptop at Dr. Pruitt's house, and so could not do them until this evening.

But this did not stop me from doing the other first parts of my Routine:

Prayer/meditation
Breathing
Testicular exam
Kegel exercise
Physical exercises
Body Stretch

I feel better, in general.
But yesterday at Ralph's I saw & bought egg nog, chips, dip, and a 1/2 lemon cake.  So naturally I'm having some of each every night, except the egg nog.

All these are fattening.  Will try to minimize these tomorrow.

With my forgetting to take my laptop home, I also left my phone charger at Dr. P's place.  So, by morning, my phone was dead.

I've always said that David will likely call with "actual money news" when my phone's dead or off, or when I'm in the middle of something focused, etc, etc.

Well, that sort of happened this morning.  With it's dying "breaths" almost gone, I noted that David had replied to my TDay text greeting with a message indicating that he now had some "very interesting information."

I responded with a sigh, AND with a bit of excitement.  I resolved to call him back while driving to work today.  Amazingly, he was available to talk right then!  (He's usually strapped for time due to family obligations, etc.)

His message was quite encouraging.  He heard from Michael (1 of the 2) that the REASON - finally, someone saying there's a REASON - for all the many delays lies with the Bank of Scotland, who are dealing with extremely difficult times due to the aftermath of the 2008 recession, and a poor economy in Scotland for the past 2 years.  So... their CEOs & other VIPs at the bank (where Mr. Thatcher is an employee) have filibustered the transfer of the $15 Billion GOCH funding, because it gives them an extra % point (or something along that line) in their ratings.  If the money is gone, they'll be more vulnerable.

FINALLY - my thoughts have been "vindicated."  I've felt for most of the 2+ years I've known about this GOCH money, that SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE was benefiting from retaining the money.

And that's apparently the case in this case.

I joked with David that the Scots were being Scotch.  And he replied that they deserved a "Scotch blessing" - which I agreed with, but that it should be an AMERICAN blessing, rather.  And they likely won't enjoy it.

David further said that the Bank of ENGLAND "trumps" the Bank of Scotland, and that the Bank of England has already over-ridden the Scots, and demanded that they allow the GOCH transfers to go through.

This, he says, will begin the day after tomorrow.

I said, "I really hope it happens this time."  to which he replied "That's exactly what I said today!"

Well, don't we all hope?  I'm feeling pretty down about my career & my finances these days (weeks, months, years).

All I can do it look back and regret my errors in judgment, in almost every situation.  While I do have some skills I can pinpoint, they don't seem to have carried me very far.

But now (or when David first tantalized me with this opportunity about 2 1/2 years ago), I've somehow acquired new hope for my life.

I'd be working with someone I know & trust & love.
I'd be GIVING out money to people (impact giving), rather than trying to convince people to give ME their money (sales).
I'd be able to use my languages.
I'd be able to get & stay out of debt.  I'd be able to keep my 501K & my rental property.
I'd be able to help Joe & Chrissy.
I'd be able to set up REAL fund accounts for my grandchildren.
I'd be able to make a larger donation to The Lavender Effect.
I'd be able to make donations to podcasts.
I'd be able to make donations to NPR, etc.
I'd be able to visit Eric in Scotland.
I'd be able to visit Marie in Brittany.
I'd be able to visit Australia.
I'd be able to visit Peggy.
I'd be able to visit Patricia.
I'd be able to visit many other friends.
I'd be able to get my teeth whitened.


But now, I'm not going to think about it again until Friday.  It might never happen, or might not happen on Friday.

So on with my life as it is.

I'll cash in some of my 401k to pay off my cc debt, and include some money for taxes & penalties.  And then I'll attempt to refi my house (based on Dr. P's job).

And if I can make it work, I'll gradually build up some savings & keep working hard.  Might even look for an additional way to increase my income.

And I'll slow down, over the next 10-20 years, and get ready to die.

Depressing, I know.  But it's where I am.  Reality.  YUK!

20161129 WRITINGS FOR TODAY

I woke at about 5:10 AM, and began my usual routine, which I did without rushing.  It was very pleasant.  I finished everything by about 6:50 AM, so well within 2 hours.

It's not that I do them in order.  It's that I do them.

This seems like simplistic stuff.  I KNOW this all.  But I'm trying to discipline myself into DOING  this stuff.  It takes - perhaps & sometimes - writing it down here to get clear.

And, I have the Ancel N. Taylor curse of "do everything twice."  He didn't say "I" had to do everything twice, but he said HE had to, implying that I would have to 2, too.

And, I have found that it's not always only 2..... sometimes I have to do 20 to drill the idea in.  I'm easily distracted by stuff, thoughts, ideas, etc.  They creep in so readily.  I'm not sure that's all bad.  But creep they do.

And so, I repeat my affirmations daily, and 10 times typed, followed by 10 times spoken.

It's a lot of business.... but I think it's helping me, in general.  I seem to have clearer thoughts, and I'm remembering to do things BEFORE they need to be done, rather than "catching up."

Hold the needle down.  It will likely scratch the sound of the vinyl record, but it will be better than skipping whole phrases, etc., once the "holding down" process is finished.

This is a theme in my life.  I've had to "hold" to things, in spite of outside influences.

BTW, is it rational for me to say to myself things like, "This life sucks.  Just let me do this.  Why is everything failing?  Technology should WORK - not fail."  etc.  I'm somehow lamenting that the fails are happening so often, and to me.  WHY?

I could let them pass, and not become upset.  But they continue to happen every day.

And then I wonder if the frequency is similar to the frequency experienced by other people.
And then I wonder if I let them pass (i.e., don't get so upset about them), would they actually decrease in frequency?  Or continue to occur at the same frequency?

WHO KNOWS??  No one is talking to me, but myself.  I have some answers to my daily dilemmas.  But let's see how today goes.  Maybe it'll REALLY get better today.

Off we go again.
I was awakened by Joe's "commute call" (his drive from American Fork to SLC/work), after having slept through the night (yay), i.e., 11pm to 5:30 AM.
He's doing so much better with his new job and the family; and we're all coming down off the high from Thanksgiving in St. George.
I got up after Joe's call, and I did my meditation/workout routine.  I even did the back stretches on my inversion table.
So now, it's daily affirmations.

O&O for now.

At least for today..... I've maintained control & accomplished my goals, as simple and short as they are.  Feels good.  Most of my life, I have not had this feeling.  I suppose that some people have it every day.

But I'm glad & rejoicing in today, the day that I know I have.  I don't know if God gave it to me, or if it just happened.  There seem to be a rhyme & a reason to it all.  And yet, there is also a spontaneity to it, which in part belies the traditional religious explanations.

Well, let's not get too carried away.  I'm not "rejoicing" so much as having a happy, solid confidence that I'm doing something right.

During my affirmations, my mind often wanders to seemingly random past experiences.  Or to my frequent lamentation that I've pretty well screwed up everything I've undertaken - at least career-wise.

So, the affirmations are very important, because they help me restore some measure of value to my life.  Maybe I'm not such a fuckup after all.  Maybe there IS some productive value to what I've done.

Maybe my value will be yet revealed.  I'm just now getting used to allowing "the world" (i.e., possible readers of my blog posts) to know the real me.  And in the process, I suppose, I'm getting to know myself better, too.

I've been down similar paths before.  But this time, I'm walking along with a bit more confidence that things WILL actually improve.

At least for today.

I also did not go shopping.... I can get by with what I have "in stock."

Feeling slightly better physically.

Except for headaches.  They seem to be more frequent lately.

We left St. George EARLY (i.e., 3:30 AM, Mountain Time) this morning, and arrived back home (in LA area) by around 9:30 or so.  Not bad - we avoided the traffic comme tout!

So, due to the early rise & packing, I didn't do a "routine routine" today.  But I still did it!  (yay!)

20161126 POST BLACK FRIDAY WRITINGS

Up early again today, and quite glad I've already done my physical routine.  I even stretched my back by hanging my upper torso over the edge of the bed.

It's still dark outside.  Ethan is apparently asleep in the bed next to mine.  He is breathing audibly, regularly, not snoring.

Well, on to my affirmations for today.

OK, affirmations are done for today (yay!), and I repeated each one 10 times silently, since Ethan is still asleep in the next bed.

The sun is coming up in St. George.  Today we're going to have a photographer take family pics.  I'm going to pay the photographer.  Hope he/she is good at it.  We'll be in the rock country at 4-5 pm, and so we'll have to deal with tired kids, and cooler weather, and getting the photo right.

I'm a bit worried about my "letting lose on the kids."  My older brother Bob was living with his daughter and her kids, when he acted out by hitting one of the kids.  My niece asked him to move away, and his life went sort of downhill since then.  My temperament is quite a bit like his, I think.

OTOH, I do affirmations every day, PLEADING with myself to be loving and healing with my kids and grandkids.  I hope I can really make it different.  I would be devastated if I were to do something like Bob did, and then be "ostracized"  from either family.

Another phenomenon - Teresa seems to be "following me around" and getting a bit closer.  Just a bit.  She'd never come to a sofa where I'm sitting and sit beside me - at least not for years.  And this trip, she's done that several times.  It's a weird feeling.

Dr. Pruitt emailed to give my my schedule, and that's a good sign for our relationship & future working together.  I hope we can get all things done correctly from now on.

AND DAMMIT, DAVID!  I've waited long enough for you to "rescue me" from my current life.  Haven't I???  Let's have the call this coming week.  PLEASE!!!!!!

20161125 WRITINGS FOR TODAY, BLACK FRIDAY

I'm about to do my affirmations, here in a room of a St. George, Utah condo that my family rented for the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend.

It's "Black Friday."

My first thought is, wouldn't it be nice if this were a TRUE Black Friday, if David were to call to say, "We're in the black - the money is here."

But no.  Since I've anticipated it already, it's bound not to happen.

I did the affirmations just now, but had to repeat them SILENTLY since Ethan is sleeping in the other bed in this room.

Someone's awake downstairs, and my stomach is reminding me that it's after 7 am, so I'm going to go eat something.  But at least I've stayed with this routine.  (except for my inversion table, which I've attempted to simulate by lying at the end of my bed with my head almost touching the floor.  It gives me a bit of a back stretch.

20161124 WRITINGS FOR THANKSGIVING DAY

Thanksgiving Day.

I wish I were more in the spirit of truly celebrating this day.  Even if it were through traditional foods, etc.

But no.  I'm dealing with my life long frustrations, personality flaws, sour relationships, etc.

I do not know WHY I am plagued with this, especially since I've done a lot, over the years, to eradicate it.

It's a constant vigil, I suppose.  I don't know how others, IF they are similarly plagued, have managed to root it out.

But perhaps I'm not all that different.  Perhaps I'm just mentally ill.  Perhaps I don't have the right outlook about life, about MY life, etc.

It seems that any answer to the above "dilemma" would involve me being "wrong" in some way.  And then along come David Timpson and others who "correct" me by saying, "Ken, there's noting wrong with you."

Well, at the very least, there IS something wrong - I have a bad perception of myself.

People have told me, over the years, that I have a "bad attitude" and/or that I'm a "mean" person.  But I don't think I am 100%.  I try very hard to be nice, while also being firm/strict with the little ones who might come into some danger, or who have exhibited rudeness or selfishness.

So...... again, I'm wrong either way.

Eli says he won't do something I'd like because "he's mean to me sometimes."  DAMN.  I'm mostly loving to him.  Why must only the occasional negative aspect be primary in his mind?????  DAMN.

See?  I don't seem to have ANY control over this dilemma.

So........ recently I recalled my father dressing me down (I was a young teenager, I think), and concluding, "You're nothing special."

That's not true, but the label (or LACK of label) has stayed with me all my life.

I usually react/respond/attack/counterbalance this thought with recalling positive things my father has said about me/to me:

1.  I think Kenny has a knack for languages.
2.  Ask Ken - he knows something about cars.
3.  You''l be a good driver.
4.  We thought you'd be the fairest of all the children (re being the executor of their estate)

So...... if I count the good things, and try to ignore the bad, maybe there's hope for me.

*sigh*

I wish I knew better how to deal with the strong, negative messages that plague me now.

AND, my affirmations seek to enhance my self-healing - and I want it to apply to the DAMN COUGHING FITS I keep having.  I'd like to at very least find out what it is, and possibly take some steps (meds?  change in diet?  change in routine?) to FIX IT.

Who wants to live life COUGHING?????  Not me.

20161123 WRITINGS FOR TODAY (written last night)

It's 10 pm, and I've DONE my routine, including affirmations, for tomorrow.

I hope I can fall asleep fast, so I can get the full 6 hours I need - 10p to 4a.

Later (at 11:45 pm, after travelling most of the day from LA to St. George, UT)

I'm in a twin bed alone.

My grandchildren are .... something.  I'm disappointed that they don't show love more openly.  But since we arrived at the condo where we'll be staying for 4 days.....

Ada has been focused on Lyla, and Lyla on Ada.  They haven't paid ANY attention to me., in spite of my attempts to hug them, to say "I love you," = even to say goodnight.

Ethan was supposed to sleep in the other twin bed here in my room, but has left to sleep in Ada & Lyla's room, on the floor.  He's polite, but not interested in relating to me.

Elliot is the most friendly, but is still pretty distant.  I have more hope for him & me to relate.

Oliver is not feeling well, but still gave me a smile earlier, so there's that.

Eli told me he didn't want to turn the lights off, even though I told him they hurt my eyes.  He said, in front of his dad, "Papa's mean to me sometimes."  That was pretty devastating, since I'd spent the most time with him, and we - I thought - had a good relationship.

And then there's Cubby Caleb Kenneth - my namesake.  He smiles at me, but then, he smiles at EVERYbodya.

I guess I need to work on being niced, if I want to have a loving relationship with my grandchi8ldren.

Dammit.  I thought I was really doing better than this.

So, I'm glad I'm alone, and can write this without disturbing anyone else.
