READING, WRITING

Read for 1 page in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says the 14th & 15th Centuries in Europe brought the advancement of science as a necessary endeavor for the survival of Empires.  Til then, Empires only conquered whatever was next to them to secure their holdings.  But with Columbus, Empires began to embrace new science/technology to conquer distant lands.  The cartographers began to fill in the empty spaces on their maps.

Read for 1 page in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls his first few weeks in the WH:  it was a whirlwind of moving & getting used to new surroundings.  He did a few things he said he'd do as soon as he took office.  But senior team members were not yet confirmed, so he had to delay some things.
