READING, WRITING, SKETCHING
Read for 60 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari. He says that conquering Polytheistic empires made no effort to convert their newly conquered subjects; they (Romans, Egyptians, Aztecs) did not send out missionaries or armies to force conquered peoples to change their religion; in fact, Romans readily accepted Egyptian (Isis) and Asian (Cebele) gods into their belief system.
Read for 60 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins. He says I should not forget that forging relationship(s) with Editors (PEOPLE) is equally important, if not MORE important, than the content of my writing. Only AFTER a well-established relationship with an Editor (PERSON) is formed, should I then "withdraw" a favor from the Editor.
NOTE: As it is with Acting & Actors..... so it is with Writing & Writers: At first, they look DOWN on me. After I succeed, they look UP to me.
Read for 1+ page in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He remembers that the fallout from his gaffe (a speech in San Francisco in which he characterized frustrated white people as "bitter" and "turning to guns") plagued his campaign in Pennsylvania, where he lost to Hillary; he says he could not afford any further mistakes, or would have little to no chance at winning the nomination.
Read for 1+ page in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewellyn Vaughn-Lee. He says we must "go beyond," "step into the vortex," and participate. His phrasology seems to say that we have a choice. And yet, he says that this transition is inevitable. Also, he latches on to the unlimited world of advancing technology, and how it will facilitate the transition he's explaining to the reader.
NOTE: I thought as I read today that Llewellyn's writing style includes repeating the same ideas many, many times; and I think it's by design. I am slow to absorb messages, and my mind is easily distracted to adjacent ideas and threads of thought. So when I pull myself back into focused reading, I realize that he is, in fact, quite repititious. And I'm glad about that, in spite of it making my reading comprehension so painfully slow.
Read for 1+ page in THE PERSIAN BOY by Mary Renault.
Read for 1+ page in AN AMERICAN FAMILY by Jon and Michael Galluccio.
