20240810 IS TODAY D-DAY???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

A few days ago, DT told me he would be having a talk with John Perron today.


And he did.


And he called.


And he was EXCITED (in spite of his fatigue from cancer treatments & a recent fall).


And he said  John Perron returned from Toronto, after a very successful meeting with a bloke called Todd Morgan, a highly successful mining person.


Morgan is willing to prep & market Akanda for David & John, and is also willing to invest a substantial amount up front, and will do so very soon.


YAY!


I feel different now.  I'm more relaxed and feel less attached to Dr. Pruitt, and now more desirous of travelling around to see family & friends.


It's a good day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

READING, WRITING

Read for 80 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says happiness can be defined as "subjective well-being."  Scientists, etc. have long sought to determine what makes people feel happy, and so subject study groups to questionnaires, asking them subjective questions.

Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls how difficult it was for him to sympathize with the big bankers at the conference table who complained that they'd been called "fat cats" (by BO & others), when they were used to adulation.

Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt.  He says Kantism (Kant had Asbergers) is not necessarily wrong simply because Kant had Asbergers.  Rather, Haidt believes, Kantism is wrong because it had (has) drifted away from empathy, and toward science.  Haidt's introduction to moral philosophy left him bored, because it was based on Kohlberg's moral philosophy theory:  it must lead us to one point:  a clear understanding of moral justice.  (i.e., no room for those messy, subjective empathic considerations).

Read for 80 seconds in MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING by Viktor Frankl.  He says psychiatrists are nowadays often called on to respond to challenges formerly usually handled by clergymen or others.  Psychiatrists are now faced with:  "What is the meaning of my life?"  Frankl gives the case of the woman with 2 sons, who lost one to an accident, and the other a cripple for life.  She attempted suicide/infanticide, but her crippled son saved them by declaring that he liked living.  Frankl asks why.
