Amazing that I had 3 consecutive days of 196.2, which was quite depressing (so I ate a lot last night....), and then this morning, I'm down to 195.6.  Go figure

It's one of the things that keeps me going.  I have a good life.  I am in good health.  I have children.  I have good friends.  I have "enough" money (although more would be nice).

Read 60 + seconds in SAPIENS; learned that early man social groups somehow crossed the "threshold" of 150 members and were able to act in "compliance" or "supportive fashion" even after they got to be more than 150 members...... the author thinks that the reason they were able to cross the threshold was largely due to mythology.

I would have sworn that "threshold" was spelled with 3 h's, not just 2.  Maybe I'm remembering the British spelling?  But anyway, I also learned that there IS a spell check in blogspot.com, and I learned how to use it.

I'm pulling myself (allowing myself to be pulled) (both are correct)....... in 3 directions, all the time wishing it were a 4th:

1.  Staying with Dr. Pruitt through to the end.
2.  Working at Red Hat with Joe
3.  Retiring so I can go to Cyprus whenever I want.

Conclusion:  the development of language and then gossip are key factors in how humans evolved.


It's Sunday, and I'm taking things slower than usual; nowhere to be anytime soon.

Life is not great (i.e., no $$ call from David), but it's not bad either.

Although I've pretty much given up on the David deal, there's still a flicker of hope.  If nothing else, David and I talk more often, and we explore kid & grandkid stuff, and health issues, and some light philosophy.

But more pressing on my mind today is whether I should plan a trip to Cyprus to spend 2 weeks with George, or not.  My practical side says "no."  And my emotional side says "yes."

What to do?  Just keep thinking about it until I come to a decision, I guess.  I might just do the WP & WCs  (weighted pros and weighted cons) approach to see what comes out.

WRITING

So, for today, I'm writing about the dilemma I have had most of my life:  TIMING, or lack thereof.  I seems to "create" bad timing unconsciously.  I went downstairs WITHOUT taking my cell phone with me.  And while down there, I received an important call.  There is no way to predict that.  Maybe there IS a way:  1) take the phone everywhere, and 2) be sensitive to when I might be getting a call.

That was a bit more than 60 seconds.  But now I've realized that I goofed up again.  I had decided to "plow through" my routine so that I can actually leave early for OC, to avoid heavy traffic.  So I did, except that I forgot to put my feet into the foot bath I had prepared.  Here I sat, feet OUTside the bath, not even thinking that my feet should be INside the bath, while I did my "SAVERS" - so....... I am now soaking my feet, and taking the next 30 minutes to do other things, such as write more.

And maybe do some online things (writing emails, banking, scrabble, crosswords, oh, and reading about Red Hat stuff).

Yeah, reading about Red Hat stuff is the priority.

If we say that "the answers lie within us" then what should we do with the "outside" of us?  Let it go?  Simply focus within?

The idea of Writing seems to be something that captures the minimal vestige of a "dream" in my life.  I can't pinpoint an early "direction" or "desire" or "dream" in my life.  Over the years, I've noted that I can write sometimes.  And it's sometimes poetry, and sometimes prose.  And sometimes, it's a mix of those.  :-)  Thoughts flash but I don't often write them down, thinking that..... WRITING

The two theories about how we evolved as species are not conclusive.  The REPLACEMENT THEORY (the one where the Sapiens killed off the Neanderthals, and thus as the only human specie, are now not able to claim racism) still has merit in spite of the findings of Neanderthal DNA in Sapien genomes.

Why?

Because societal and sexual evolution is not "black or white" - there are significant and meaningful "grey areas"

For example, bulldogs and terriers had, at one time, a common ancestor, and a common DNA.  But they separated into two groups.  They were "away" from each other for so long, that they were eventually unable to procreate (i.e., 1 bulldog with 1 terrier produced no offspring - they had become too "different.")

So........ the REPLACEMENT THEORY is partly true, AND  the INTERBREEDING THEORY is partly true.

oh well...... this has always been, in my experience, a life of "yeah, but..."s.

No absolutes.

the "Interbreeding Theory" (i.e., Sapiens INTERBRED with others, including Neanderthals, and thus the people now on earth are of 2 or more races, some of whom intermixed, and thus this theory DOES lead to racism.)

Until 2010, the "Replacement Theory" was generally accepted.  Then evidence was found that supports the "Interbreeding Theory" (Neanderthal DNA found in Sapiens)

"DON'T SPEAK IN A BORROWED VOICE" (20180811)

Today I watched the movie "Handsome Devil" and the theme of it was how young school rugby players learned, thanks to 2 gay boys, not to speak in a borrowed voice.

Well, I'm weeping over it.  I've spoken in a "borrowed voice" for most of my life.

When I came out (after bring kicked out of the LDS church), I began to be myself, and to discover who I am, But the process is still ongoing.

And  so.

I'm trying to make some sense of it.

I mean, have I come out?  TO everyone?  Well, maybe not, and maybe it's not necessary, since.... "if they want to know, they can ask me.  And I'll tell them the truth."

But what if I'd come out to Guide Technologies....  would things have been different for me?

I came out to David Timpson when I was 21.  He already sensed that I was gay, but supported my using "a borrowed voice" then, staying Mormon, getting married, etc.

He's not to blame, but I wish he'd have said to me then, "You should follow your true self."

So..... I got married anyway, had 2 kids, and now things are different.

But through it all, I'm still trying to NOT SPEAK IN A BORROWED VOICE.

David:  Living month to month while there is no movement on the mine sale or development.
JPruitt:  Getting better, but I'm like a "servant" to him, and he still belittles me unnecessarily.
