RUMI
Read for 80 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari. He says humans discovered gunpowder, how to harness steam to convert it to energy, atoms/atomic energy, petroleum to convert it to moving people. The first steam engine 1830 in England changed everything.
Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He remembers that the GOP and the right-wing media plotted to become LESS bi-partisan, and to "hope Obama fails" (a la Limbaugh). BO wanted bi-partisan to be a hallmark of his presidency, but the GOP weren't having it.
Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt. He summarizarily restates his theory that INTUITION comes first, and REASONING comes second. However, he acknowledges that he could be wrong, and he's leaving it up to reasoners to point it out (if they can).
NOTE: I'm not 100% convinced. But in the next section he'll get into deeper diving about the INTUITION theory (i.e., the elephant rules), so we'll see.
Read for 80 seconds in MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING by Viktor Frankl. He remembers thinking about what Spinoza said in ETHICS: "EMOTION, which is suffering, ceases to be suffering when we form a clear picture of it." (hmmmmm)
This happened to Frankl when he was in camp: he imagined giving a lecture on psychology to a group of people seated on comfortable chairs; his suffering disappeared (at least for that short time).
Read for fun in THE COMFORT CRISIS by Michael Easter.
