EXERCISE

Due to the "break" of recent weeks, I am resuming my full routine incrementally.  This means that every day, I add 1 rep to my squats/push-ups.

8/15:  15 squats  (X 2)

8/16:  16 push-ups (X 2)

8/17:  17 squats (X 2)

8/18:  18 push-ups (X 2)

etc.

on 8/30, I'll do 30 push-ups or squats (X 2), and for the next 5 days, I'll continue adding 1 rep per day, until I reach 35 (X2), or 70 reps.

So, today:

1. ankle/wrist circles 70
2. toe/finger stretches 70
3. bicycle crunches 70
4. shoulder rolls 70
5. inversion table 3 70-second sets
6. squats 30 (2 sets of 15, since today is 8/15)

READING, WRITING

Read 60 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says that truth is truth, even if people don't believe in it.  Eg., gravity will remain in effect, even if all homo sapiens stop believing in it.  But myth can and does change people when they start (or stop) believing in it.

He also says that "natural rights" exist only in the imagination of the sapien that states that he has them.  They are no more real than they are (or would be) for animals, plants, nature.

We don't want to admit to that.  Voltaire says he does not believe in god, but don't tell his servant lest he murder him at night.  So, society can be preserved by myth/beliefs, by BELIEVERS.  But at what price?  Armies are motivated by leaders who believe (or don't believe) in myths.  The US Military is deployed in the name of preserving the "rights" of the people to be free, safe, happy.

I'm not sure if I buy this line of reasoning, but let's see where it goes.

Yesterday, David called early in the morning.  Many times, I've watched my phone, thinking that a signal (audible notification) from my phone was him calling me with the "money news."  But it had not happened on those many mornings.  I would likely respond, before I even knew who it was that was causing the signal, with a sarcastic "Yeah, right!"

But yesterday was different.  I woke early, lay in bed feeling depressed about the plight I'm in, and wondering how I'd face the next days & weeks.  I dozed off.

The phone woke me.  It was David!  And he had good news!  This was to be the money day.  It's still just a projection, not a real promise.  But it held so much promise!  He and Michael had talked extensively just before he called me.  They talked about how they'd go forward now that the first money was coming in.

They discussed my involvement; I'll be getting a written offer/job description within the next 6 weeks, along with an initial amount (50K to 100K).

Wow!

Now, the reality is setting in:  IT WAS JUST WORDS.  THERE IS NO MONEY YET.

It's been 24 hours since his call, and David has not called back to tell me that he actually got the $40K he was estimated to receive yesterday.

So, I'm still waiting.

But ALSO, I decided that I will move forward with MY life as if it is actually happening.

Hence, my SAVERS plan above.
