VISUALIZATION


This morning, I realized (again - *sigh*) that I have approximately 6 weeks (less 2 days) until I leave for Europe.  I'm STILL bothered by my protruding gut, and I'm STILL about 10-15 pounds heavier than I'd like to be.  SO......
I'm continuing my plan for the next 18 days.  I'll continue to lose an average of 1/2 pound every day (10 pounds in 20 days), by continuing the following regimen:


EXERCISE
  • FAST DAYS (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
5:30 - 6:00  1/2 routine
6:00 - 6:30  PIANO
6:30 - 7:00 2/2 routine
  • SLOW DAYS (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Later - Full routine
Later - 1 Hour Piano
Visit Gym?


DIET, which means........... NOTHING BETWEEN MEALS!!!!!!!!!!

  • FAST DAYS (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)

7:00 AM Smoothie/coffee

READING, WRITING

Read for 80 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says that war is generally OUT OF VOGUE..... meaning that we at last have a lasting peace, and it's in large part thanks to Robert Oppenheimer, who developed the atomic bomb that ended WWII.  Now, we can only have a major war if we're willing to kill everyone on the planet.

Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls observing (and certainly supporting) Michelle O in her new First Lady role.  MO took on 2 causes:  1)  childhood obesity, and 2) support of military families after their military family member had retired.  She would not fail at either, BO guessed.

Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt.  He says morality (and all its complex additional concepts) is like a tongue (which has 5 taste receptors), but with 6 social receptors.
In sum, Haidt says that people have the 5 basic taste receptors, but have widely different preferences for the food they eat:  a person with sweetness receptors might prefer Thai food, while another person, also with sweetness receptors might prefer Mexican food.  The sweetness receptors cannot explain why.
In like manner, morality and social receptors are universal, but they are expressed in myriad ways by every person in every culture.  Haidt even says that we'd have to examine every PERSON (not just every culture) to determine what makes people make such diverse moral decision and conclusions.  And yet, it's not so flexible that we can't make some GENERAL statements & conclusions about morality.  
(On to the next phase of this analysis!)

Read for 80 seconds in MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING by Viktor Frankl.  He says LOGOTHERAPY insists on the RESPONSIBILITY of a patient's meaning of life MUST LIE WITH THE PATIENT, and not with the doctor.  He cites (his creation maybe) a maxim:

"Live as if you were living already for the 2nd time,
and (live) as if you had acted the 1st time
as wrongly as you are about to act now."

DAY 3

I made it to "Day 3" - !!!!!  YAY!!!!!


My new program to lose weight before my trip to Europe next month, consists of the desire to lose weight before I leave (I leave in about 30 days from now).

I've continued well, by doing my routine this morning, and by restricting my diet to 2 meals a day, and each one is going to be portion-controlled, and healthy.

I'm not going to have dinner until around 6 PM, when I go to John Brinkley's BD party, where I'll focus on having smaller proportions of food.

Since my annual checkup last month was good, I'm generally feeling good about my health; however.....

My blood panel showed a mildly alarming glucose level, which is within the range called "pre-diabetic."

REALLY??????  I guess I need to take it seriously, even though the reading was at the lower end of the range called "pre-diabetic."  So now I'm more conscious of that I'm eating and how much I'm exercising.

Hence,  my new program to lose weight and eat healthier.  I'm on Day 3.

The "Internet" tells me that if you're "pre-diabetic" you should:

  1. ✅Eat healthy foods:  a diet high in fruits and vegetables, nuts, whole grains and olive oil
  2. ✅Exercise more.
  3. ✅Lose excess weight (that's part of my plan)
  4. ✅Quit smoking  (never started)
  5. ✅Take meds as needed.
The list is posted on my dresser mirror.

So far, I've done all of the above for 3 days.  YAY!!  I'm visualizing success!!

BUT..... I was disappointed this morning when I weighed myself, and I weigh EXACTLY the same as I did yesterday.  :-(((((((

On the bright side, I didn't gain any weight.  And I'm STILL visualizing success!!
