VISUALIZATION

This morning, I realized again that I have approximately 6 weeks until I leave for Europe.  I'm bothered by my protruding gut, and I'm about 10-15 pounds heavier than I'd like to be.  SO......
I developed a simple plan for the next 20 days.  I'll lose 1/2 pound every day (10 pounds in 20 days), by following the following regimen:


EXERCISE
  • FAST DAYS (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
5:30 - 6:00  1/2 routine
6:00 - 6:30  PIANO
6:30 - 7:00 2/2 routine
  • SLOW DAYS (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Later - Full routine
Later - 1 Hour Piano
Visit Gym?


DIET, which means NOTHING BETWEEN MEALS!!!!!!!!!!

  • FAST DAYS (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)

7:00 AM Smoothie/coffee

6:00 PM  Veggie or frozen dinner w/1 slice toast&butter, nuts&raisin dessert

  • SLOW DAYS (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

10:00 AM  Smoothie/coffee

4-6:00 PM  Veggie or frozen dinner w/1 slice toast&butter, nuts&raisin dessert.



SO, here's my record for today:

I visualize weighing 199.5 or less tomorrow.

READING, WRITING

Read for 80 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says the British & French Empires came to a relatively peaceful end after 1945 (the French fought in Vietnam and Algeria, but eventually went peacefully); Harari notes that the Soviet Empire was the most silent & "peaceful" dissolution of empires:  Gorbachev "withdrew" his empire knowing that Communism had failed economically, and, at the time, it was thought also socially.  They didn't know that later, a rising politician (Puke-in) would invade Ukraine.



Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls the "happy" days of getting into the thick of being President:  committees, groups, etc. all needed to be attended & developed.  Michelle also dug into her First Lady responsibilities.  The kids Malia and Sasha both led fairly normal kid lives.


Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt.  He opens this chapter (Taste buds of Morality) by a metaphor in which a restaurateur offers only sweeteners from around the world; his research shows that of the 5 detectable taste bud areas on the human tongue (sweet, savory, sour, bitter, and salt), the most prominent is sweetness.



Read for 80 seconds in MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING by Viktor Frankl.  He says, in his technical terminology, that people can find themselves in an "existential vacuum," which he defines as a loss of meaning due to various possible factors.  These are things like "Sunday" in which the patient finds him/herself bewildered because on Sunday, the business of the workweek is gone, and he begins asking himself what meaning he has in his life..... and like "Retirement" in whihc the patient finds him/herself bewildered because in Retirement, the business of life is gone, and he asks himself what the meaning of his life is..... Frankl answers this by saying such patients need logotherapy.

DAY 1

I'm finding myself today on "Day 1" again; my new program to lose weight before my trip to Europe next month, consists of the desire to lose weight before I leave in about 30 days from now.

I've begun well, by doing my routine this morning, and by restricting my diet to 2 meals a day, and each one is going to be portion-controlled, and healthy.

I'm not going to have dinner until between 4-6 PM, and it'll be healthy food, and smaller proportions.

Since my annual checkup last month was good, I'm generally feeling good about my health; however.....

My blood test showed a mildly alarming glucose level, which is withing the range called "pre-diabetic."

REALLY??????  I guess I need to take it seriously, even though the reading was at the lower end of the range called "pre-diabetic."  So now I'm more conscious of that I'm eating and how much I'm exercising.

Hence my new program to lose weight and eat healthier.  I'm on Day 1.  Again.

To review, the "Internet" tells me that if you're "pre-diabetic" you should:

  1. ✅Eat healthy foods:  a diet high in fruits and vegetables, nuts, whole grains and olive oil
  2. ✅Exercise more.
  3. ✅Lose excess weight (that's part of my plan)
  4. ✅Quit smoking  (never started)
  5. ✅Take meds as needed.
The list is posted on my dresser mirror.

I've done a lot to make the results I want actually happens.  I'm visualizing success!!
