THALAMUS - "central hub" or "relay station" (located in the middle of the brain: size 2 walnuts); processes external sensory information & sends it to other parts of the brain.
HYPOTHALAMUS - (located below THALAMUS: size 1 almond); connects nervous system to endocrine system (which controls hormones); helps pituitary gland to release hormones.
HIPPOCAMPUS - most critical area of brain for MEMORY, new brain-cell growth, cognitive disease prevention.
AMYGDALA - (located near HIPPOCAMPUS)

Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He says Joe Biden was a source of controversy between the WH and the Pentagon; and that "how much more" (troops, supplies, etc.) the Pentagon wanted was now a question (vesrsus with Bush, who never questioned the Pentagon).
NOTE: While this seems inevitable, it's no wonder that BO (or ANY President) would incur criticism for holding back, and that holding could be rooted in a) a desire to end war, and b) handling post-recession budgets much more carefully than did Bush.

Read for 80 seconds in MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING by Viktor Frankl. He says man can actually find meaning in suffering; that POW in the Vietnam War era did as much; and others (a woman he quotes) laments that in the US, people are not only suffering, but they are also ASHAMED of their suffering, and that this is too bad because it negates/minimizes the opportunity a person has of rising above the suffering, and of making his/her life better.
