READING, WRITING
Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari. He says, in beginning his discussion of "culture" that after the Agricultural Revolution (12K BC - 8K BC), humankind began to come together; their network of artificial instincts came to be called "culture." Up until the 1950s, anthropologists imagined that the "Samoan Culture," for example, had always existed, and would never really change, unless some outside force were to intervene.
Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins. He says, again, that writing is HARD. He says I'll want to give up, to throw in the towel, etc. before I ever make it. He reminds me that people who read what I write might not agree. They'll criticize and complain. And reject. Being a writer is HARD WORK. There's no way around it.
He quotes someone who said something like, "Writing is about how ALIVE you want to be." Bare your soul. Put your work out there for others to read.
********
Today I go to the doctor at Kaiser Permanente. I'm fasting overnight, in case he wants to take blood. I feel MUCH better today; was able to do my full exercise routine! But I still have that slight headache - not nearly as bad as on Saturday; debating about taking aspirin + caffeine. So far, I don't need it.
I'll see Dr. Terando about:
- annual check-up
- pain in right upper arm (fading away now)
- BPPV (also fading)
