READING, WRITING

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He gets particular about what "worlds" existed, and when.  The pattern he sees is that large groups co-existed without knowing about each other (e.g., Rome (Europe) & Tiotihuakan (South America), around 300-400 AD).  They each rose/fell without knowing about the other.

Additionally, he notes that the number of these "human worlds" began to diminish in number over time:  in 10,000 BC, there were thousands of them; in 2000 BC, there were only several hundred; by 1450 AD, only a few.

Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says I can't expect to be "discovered" if I never lift a finger to get the attention of readers.  I need to be "intentional."  And he adds that every successful communicator has 3 tools to use to get there:

  1. A platform
  2. A brand to build trust with readers
  3. Channels of communication to distribute my work/art/writing
Then he tackles Number 1:  A platform.  He says that in London's Hyde Park, folks would stand on "soap boxes" to get the attention of listeners.  Today, our Hyde Park is........ the Internet.

Agree with all I read today.  Will look at Tasmania in a new light from now on.
