READING, WRITING

Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He recalls visiting Nazi death camps (Buchenwald) with Angela Merkel and Eli (?), and agonizing with Angela how her country could have committed such atrocities; and then the next stop Normandy where he saw the fields of Allied (mostly American) graves with bone-white markers.

Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt. He says the discovery of TRANSITIONS (from individual to social to SUPERsocial GROUPISHNESS) is part of evolution, and when it's compassionate, giving, caring, etc..... it's part of our "RIGHTEOUS MIND." Bees do this MUCH better than chimpanzees ever did; and humans are at times better at it than bees.

Read for 80 seconds in SHAMELESS by Brian Tyler Cohen. He says GOP efforts to be "fiscally responsible" have fallen short of the higher standard Biden strove for (lower inflation, more jobs). T has ignored or falsely criticized Biden while he has moved in more and more detrimental directions for the US economy and future.

Read for 80 seconds in HUCKLEBERRY by Mark Twain. For fun. (comparing the "King" reciting from memory Hamlet's "To be or not to be" speech, to the actual Shakespearean speech. While I'm certain that Twain wanted to be humorous, it's difficult to compare the 2 speeches and catch all the humor and nuance).
