READING, WRITING

Read 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says Chinese dynasties were characterized by "golden eras," when all was unified...... or "dark eras," when all was not unified.  The goal was reunification.  This contrasts to today's modern Western philosophy, in which there is no attempt to unify, but rather to recognize other states as independent states.  (This discussion is a bit confusing; I'd like to know more about how Chinese dynasties evolved.)

Read 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says there are 3 important relationships I should develop:  1)  fans (people willing to pay), 2)  friends (people who are also writing), 3)  patrons (people who can influence others in my favor).  The next section will be "how to win fans."

Read 1 page + in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls how his fight in NH, and subsequent loss there, made his team all the more determined to continue; out of this loss came BO's conviction that "YES WE CAN" should be his campaign's motto.  I had not known that the phrase was an answer to the depressing question, "Do you think we can win after this setback?"  I do vividly recall the Obama campaign using it frequently in 2008.

Read 70 seconds in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee.  He says there is a "pole" or what I would call a supreme being (the author calls him "Master of the Friends of God") at the top of humanity, supported by the "friends of God" - there are seven pegs, or beings who are closest to the pole; if one should fail or leave, another is ready to replace him.  These in turn are supported by 40 more.
