READING, WRITING

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says assimilation of conquered cultures into conquering cultures was painful and took decades.  I'm guessing that he'll eventually say that blacks in America are STILL not assimilated after 500 years.  I'm also speculating that in all the earth's history of empire domination, there were probably only a few that "succeeded" in assimilating the conquered culture to the point that they considered them "one of us."

Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says I should begin creating a "list" or "group" of potential patrons.  I can't reach my full potential as a writer without them (e.g., Steve Jobs could not have started Apple without contacts at Atari).  The process is 1) ask for a meeting 2) come prepared 3) interview 4) follow up with another email.

Read for 1 page+ in A PROMISED LAND by Barak Obama.  He recalls his "post-New Hampshire loss" period in his campaign as a time of addressing racial issues; his team merely wanted to win - and that would do the job of erasing a huge chunk of American racism.  I'm appalled at 2 things:  1)  That some white folks (in Iowa) would comment that they didn't think of BO as "black" since he was so intelligent (!!), and 2)  There was likely a time in my early adult years when I might have made some sort of similar comment (!!!).  Ashamed of that, yet so very glad to have moved beyond it.

Read for 70 seconds in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee.  He says that there are beings on earth who have traveled paths that have begun and ended, thereby enhancing their spiritual growth.  That is certainly acceptable to this work (i.e., Oneness).  But we do well to keep in mind that there are others who are just beginning the process, and they will reap the benefit of doing so, equal to that of the long-traveled beings.  He gives the example of Christ's parable of the vineyard owner who appeared to pay his men equal pay for unequal work.
