READING, WRITING

Read for 40 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He says his frustrations with the press (what president has ever LIKED the press?) centered in the right-wing press trying to create a negative scandal out of everything BO said.  The Michelle Effect was alive and well, and she likely garnered more positive effect than BO did.  She threatened sending him to sleep on a sofa (the WH has so many to choose from) when he suggested she should have worn a hat & matching purse to Buckingham Palace; she had outraged royalists by putting her hand on Queen Elizabeth's shoulder.  Thanks for a good chuckle, BO!


Read for 40 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt.  He says C's tend to equate loyalty with economic selfishness; the tea party rose in 2009, and asked Barack Obama why the Cs should have to pay for their spoiled liberal neighbors who mis-managed their finances.  No bailouts for Ls.


Read for 40 seconds in SHAMELESS by Brian Tyler Cohen.  He says Newt Gingrich is largely responsible for "leading" conservative young people to verbally attack liberals with an array of negative adjectives; they stuck & became the language of Cs all over the media, and the public.
(This makes me SOOOOOO angry, but it seems too late to fight back).
