VISUALIZATION

195.4  Yesterday's weight

195.0  Today's weight

ALTHOUGH I EXPECTED TODAY TO BE D-DAY, I did not make it to 190 by April 11/12.  And so what will I do now?  I will continue trying to make it happen by some future date.  My motivations are modified below:

Reasons I'm AGAIN motivated are
  1. David's D-Day will likely happen sometime between now and APRIL XX (who knows when - I certainly do not), and I want to be in as good of physical (and therefore mental) shape as I can be.
  2. George tells me that if a person can stand on one foot for X seconds/minutes, then s/he will likely live longer.
  3. I feel better overall when I'm doing my exercises regularly
So, if I lose a pound every 1-2 days, I should be down to approx.
190 by April 22 (anniversary), and
186 by April 30th.

Here's how I've done during the last 24 hours:

  1. Diet:  I had two meals yesterday: 1) my smoothie & coffee around 10-11am; and 2) my dinner (tamales) w/leftover icecream. around 4-5 pm.
  2. I did not eat anything between these meals.
  3. I exercised (full routine - see below)
  4. It's April 12th, and I weigh (199.0 - 4.0) 195.0

READING, WRITING

Watched "A CLOUD NEVER DIES" - bio doc of Thich Nhat Hanh (narrated by Peter Coyote - on YouTube)

My thoughts:  Thich Nhat Hanh lived a life of both suffering (Viet Nam War) and happiness (meditation & helping others).  I had not ever heard of him until today.  I was surprised to know that MLK and Obama both quoted him and believed in his peaceful propositions for our time.  I'm aware that David TImpson sent me this because he, too, believes in peaceful action during times of war.  Perhaps it is THE message for today's "D-DAY" that I had anticipated.  Rather than hope for a money day, I should turn my attention to how I can help sufferers have less suffering and more happiness.  Perhaps that's what David is trying to teach me.

"A Cloud Never Dies" - and walking/breathing.  I like both of these ideas.  I will keep these and this documentary in mind as I move through the coming days.

Read 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says "Level 2 Chaos" is illustrated by a) the stock market and b) politics.  He adds that if something is predicted, then it can never happen, because people will take steps to get ready for it; and then it will not happen.  AMEN - I always say that life is a series of one-way streets.  If we build another road to take, it will necessarily delete the results of having taken an already established road.  I like this section - "2 levels of chaos" - they define the human experience.

Read 70 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He remembers dealing with the economic crisis looming in mid-late 2007, when Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy; Bush & his team tried to act, but they were largely incapable of dealing with this bankruptcy and the dire diagnosis of economic downturn and the recession that had already taken root.

I was surprised & glad to know that the Fed and Treasury began briefing both McCain AND Obama on these crisis details, since it was not known who would be the next President; the election was 2 months away.

Read 70 seconds in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee.  He says, using an example of an experienced cook (Ting) & how he slices up an oxen, that we also must move through life carefully.  We ought to do so much like cook Ting moves through his slicing of the ox:  slowly and carefully.  If we do it correctly, we will not have need of sharpening our knives nearly as often.

I don't like imagining the slaughter of an animal; and even more so now, as I am drawing closer to my vegan friend George.  But within the context of this example, I can see how correct usage must necessarily prolong the life of a knife - and of life.

Read 70 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt.  He says his studies in Brazil/Philadelphia were based on a "3 X 2 X 2" model:
3 cities (Porto Alegre - southern Brazil, ______ - northern Brazil, and Philadelphia)
2 social class levels (high income, low income)
2 age groups (child 8-12, adult 18-28)

He predicted that Philiadelphia would reflect Turlie's ideas the most.
