VISUALIZATION

193.6  Yesterday's weight

192.8  Today's weight

-1.2

I visualize weighing less tomorrow.

Reasons I'm AGAIN motivated are
  1. David's D-Day will likely happen sometime between now and APRIL XX (who knows when - I certainly do not), and I want to be in as good of physical (and therefore mental) shape as I can be.
  2. George tells me that if a person can stand on one foot for X seconds/minutes, then s/he will likely live longer.
  3. I feel better overall when I'm doing my exercises regularly
So, if I lose a pound every 1-2 days, I should be down to approx.
190 by April 22 (anniversary), and
186 by April 30th.

Here's how I've done during the last 24 hours:

  1. Diet:  I had two meals yesterday: 1) my smoothie & coffee around 10-11am; and 2) my TJ's chicken BBQ salad w/shredded chedar for dinner, w/1 fig newton around 4-5 pm.
  2. I did not eat anything between these meals.
  3. I exercised (full routine - see below)
  4. It's April 16th, and I weigh (199.0 - 6.2) 192.8

EXERCISE
  1. ankle/wrist circles 72
  2. toe/finger stretches 72
  3. bicycle crunches 72
  4. shoulder rolls 72
  5. inversion table 1 1.5 min set
  6. EPLEY MANEUVER 1Ram
  7. ball/wall 12
  8. angel/wall 12

READING, WRITING

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says that "no matter what you call it (postmodernism, memetics or game theory), " there was a significant change that began around 1500 AD in the Westernmost tip of the Africa-Asia land mass, on a peninsula we now call "Europe."  There is no explanation history can provide as to why there, and why then.  History, like evolution, does not care about the happiness of individual Sapiens.  But there is a COLLECTIVE happiness, or unhappiness that is evident.

At any rate, the SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION of 1500 AD (v. the AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION of 12000 BC - 8000 BC) occurred.

MY NOTE:  I really like this concept.  But I'm not so sure I agree 100% with Harari about "evolution not caring about the happiness of individuals."  How would he know?

Read for 70 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls how the TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program) "legislation" was likely going to cause gridlock & subsequent disaster for the economy; BO's associate, Tom Coburn suggested a joint letter from BO & McCain strongly urging the passage of TARP; he thus got buy-in from both sides of the aisle.

Read for 70 seconds in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee.  He says if we allow ourselves to become focused on our own personal needs, we separate ourselves from life.  The return might seem difficult, and it might take a long time, but it is necessary.  We must guard against being the "idiot" (who leaves his door wide open, not caring about consequences), and rather be the "saint" (who also leaves her door wide open, but guards against dangerous elements of life, and embraces the sure and secure elements of life.)

Read for 70 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt.  He says he found an interesting trend in his studies about harm-morality:  when the interviewee was asked if anyone was harmed (when the story says there were no people harmed), they would INVENT victims.  They'd say, "I know it's wrong, but I just can't think of HOW it's wrong." OWTTE.

My sense in reading about this study is that there IS some innate sense of morality within us, and it might or might not come to the surface, depending on how much it might have been nurtured during any given life.  IOW, I'm not sure the interviewees "invented victims;" rather, they could have just been responding to an innate sense of morality.
