VISUALIZATION

190.8  Yesterday's weight

190.8  Today's weight

-0.0

I visualize weighing less tomorrow.

Reasons I'm AGAIN motivated are
  1. I already have everything I need.
  2. George tells me that if a person can stand on one foot for X seconds/minutes, then s/he will likely live longer.
  3. I feel better overall when I'm doing my exercises regularly
So, if I lose a pound every 1-2 days, I should be down to approx.
190 by April 22 (anniversary), and
186 by April 30th.

Here's how I've done during the last 24 hours:

  1. Diet:  I had two meals yesterday: 1) my smoothie & coffee around 10-11am; and 2) frozen Asian dinner + chips & salsa + 1 fig newton for dinner at around 4:00 pm
  2. I did not eat anything between these meals (approx 17 hours fasting)
  3. I exercised (full routine - see below)
  4. It's April 24th, and I weigh (199.0 - 8.2) 190.8

READING, WRITING

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says, going back again to what we "knew" before 1500 (religious leaders said "we know everything we need to know"), and comparing that to the new scientists' approach (we don't know everything we need to know; there are things we NEED to know that are not answered by religion), Harari says it was a slow change.  Even some religious leaders after 1500 rejected traditional religious dogma, but then immediately announced that THEY knew everything we needed to know. (e.g. Mohammad, who said "I am the Seal of the Prophets").

Scientists, OTOH, (such as Darwin) were openminded about their knowledge, admitting they could be wrong; that we don't know the cause of the Big Bang; that we don't know how the brain developed the capacity for reason, etc.

Yes.

Read for 70 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He remembers that the on-again, off-again campaign & debate by McCain worked to BO's advantage; McCain claimed that the TARP deal had "saved" him (and his campaign, and the country) enough so that he could continue.  BO prepared with his music, his charms in his pocket, his "uniform," and his drilling (which compelled him to cut answers shorter)..... he was now no longer the "underdog."  The presidency was his to lose.

I'm impressed that BO, not just for the campaign, but throughout his life, knew himself.  He self-managed, to the point that win or lose, he would win personally.  I really admire him for all that.  We were in good and capable hands when he was POTUS.

Read for 70 seconds in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee.  He says we can bring JOY back into our lives by saying "yes!" to our own divinity.  If we think we need to solve our problems by ourselves, we must shoulder the burdens of this life alone.  But if we accept God into our lives, he will shoulder the burdens for us, and we will become more divine than we are today.

I'm still not comfortable with the "god" concept.  I accept that there is a "creator-god" who knows more than I know, including how I got here & why I'm here.  But there is value in "working as if everything depends on me" as a motivator to get more done.

I'll conclude that my "quiet faith" will be sufficient to get me where I'm going, with the help of smarter, more loving beings than I.

Read for 70 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt.  He says that scientists and psychologists of the 1970s argued back and forth about the reasons we act the way we do.  Wilson surfaced at Harvard, and he suspected and then claimed that HUMANS had also evolved, and along with them, morality.

I'm going to re-read this passage; I need to get clearer on who thought what when.

Read for 1+ pages in AN AMERICAN FAMILY by Jon & Michael Galluccio.👌  I read the last several pages of this book this morning.  What a touching tribute to people who have learned how to live & love (& yes, laugh).  I wish & hope that they will continue to thrive, in spite of trials.  And I wish the same for me and every other unusual American family.  *sigh* - in a good good way.

Listend for 1+ pages in ULYSSES by James Joyce.👌

On p. 40, Steven Dedalus is talking (listening) to either his cousin or his uncle Richie, with Walter.  He babbles on and on about who knows what, and then suddenly,

"Reading two pages apiece of seven books every night, eh?"

I don't know why Joyce includes this here, but it IS, in fact what I do, with the exception that it's usually in the morning hours when I read.  And it's not "2 pages" - it's 70 seconds.

Joyce is a bit hard to follow, putting it mildly.  But I do love his phrases which have double & triple meanings.  I'm sure someone has already called it "poetry in prose."
