READING, WRITING
Read for 60 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari. He says Gobekli Tepe discoveries indicate that it was built by foragers, not by farmers. Perhaps it was built for some cultural/spiritual/mysterious reason. But it was definitely there BEFORE a village grew up near it.
In other places, the village came first, and THEN the people built cultural/spiritual/mysterious structures.
The most fascinating thing in today's reading, to me, was that based on what we now know (and that's not at all pinned down), it would have taken thousands of hunans (who were at the time foragers) a very long time to create the Gobekli Tepe (5 meters tall) pillars. What convinced them to all cooperate?
Either religion, or something food/wheat related are the likely answers. Maybe both.
