Read for 80 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harrari.  He says the family, while severely altered by both state and market, still had some elements:  raising and educating children.  But the WAY we raise children today is strongly influenced by both the state and the market.  No longer do families pay other families for matching their children in marriage:  rather, they pay the market.

Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls considering possible solutions to the financial crisis that plagued his first months in office - along with all of the USA.  He wanted a quick fix that would "punish" the irresponsible actors in the banking industry, but it would have made them bankrupt or severely sick.  He and his team consider other options later on.
