READING, WRITING

RUMI

Read for 80 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says that the "nation" and the "consumerism entity" are both imaginary because it's impossible for all (eg) 80 million Germans to know each other intimately, or for all 80 million Germans to know that they all consume products & services in a like manner.
NOTE:  I guess.  But what's the point of pointing this out?

Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls meeting with Tim (treasury secretary) and Larry (?) to decide on which plan of 3 they were considering would be best; they decided on Tim's 3rd option, only because it wasn't as bad as the other 2 they'd discussed.

Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt.  He says that his 3 months in India allowed him to let go of his earlier "liberal bent" in which he was constantly saying "we're right & they're wrong," and his mind was opened to the viability of a conservative view.
NOTE:  Hmmmmm.  Not sure where this is going.

Read for 80 seconds in MAN'S SEARCH FOR MEANING by Viktor Frankl.  He says that LOGOTHERAPY (versus traditional Freudian psychoanalysis - id, ego, superego) embodies the search for meaning in a person's life, and not just the aspects of his life that are "symptomatic" or "incidental."
