Read for 40 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He describe's France's Sarkozy, a small fiery man who'd endorsed BO for president, but generally left the economy alone, and tried to be in the center of all the action; contrasted to Merkel, who was more cautionary, and spoke fluent English.

He says his essay provoked strong reactions from both liberals and conservatives: liberals thought he'd missed the boat when he tried to acknowledge the values of a more balanced approach among the 5 foundations; conservatives complained that when in the military, much was achieved with few resources, whereas in a liberal government agency, they found that there was much effort with little result to show for it.
