SILENCE
Tried to silence my brain for 70 seconds. Not really able to do it in any way. Yesterday (?), George told me that in the book he's been reading, it says that MEDITATION requires focus, but that if your mind wanders, it's OKAY, because it's teaching you to focus, bit by bit, more and more, on what you think/feel is important. So don't give up!
NOTE: I wish there were a word that combines the essences of "to think" and "to feel." Maybe there is.

READING, WRITING
Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari. He presents a chart titled "The Imperial Cycle" which encapsulates the preceding passages about the process of Empires taking over other lands & cultures, and what happens when, and how it ends up (or rather, continues, in one case):
He compares the Roman, Arab and European Empires which followed similar patterns, at different times throughout history.
The actual events were obviously much more complex and much less clean-cut than his chart depicts.
Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins. He says I should NOT begin writing a book. And he says I should NOT simply write my first (of 12+) articles, spending hours and days on it, and hoping it'll be perfect for a certain magazine.
Rather, I SHOULD gather a few "loose ideas" together, and email a publisher I think might eventually publish my work, and then submit those ideas to the publisher. I am building a RELATIONSHIP. Relationships are more important than good ideas and great writing (at least AT FIRST, they are).
Read for 1 page + in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He remembers how influential Rev. Dr. Otis Moss (not Ross) was for him. Here are 2 quotes Reverend Moss gave BO, which BO says are profoundly influential to his political campaign & career & life:
"Every generation is limited by what it knows."
"You, Barack, are part of the Joshua generation. You and others like you are responsible for the next leg of the journey. Folks like me can offer the wisdom of our experience. Perhaps you can learn from some of our mistakes. But ultimately, it will be up to you, with God's help, to build on what we've done, and lead our people and this country out of the wilderness."
NOTE: I need to focus on these words, and see how they can apply to me and my family.
Read for 70 seconds in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewelyn Vaughan-Lee. He says now is the time for us to leave behind our desire for things, and even for enlightenment, and allow God to take us into the new period of oneness and love. There is no time for individuality to be our main focus. We need not worry and we rest assured that we are supported by the People of God, and by God.
("Let it go" comes to mind)
Read for 1 page + in THE PERSIAN BOY by Mary Renault. To keep up the habit of reading, and for enjoyment.
