READING, WRITING

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says animals took on supernatural qualities (e.g., white-tail foxes), as did certain trees/plants (e.g., fig trees) - but only in certain regions.  The people of each local had their own superstitious beliefs about the plants and animals of their particular regions.  Also, ghosts & faries were added to the belief systems.

Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says I should definitely follow up, even if it's uncomfortable.  Usually publishers take 4-5 weeks to get back with a response; if not, they likely won't publish my writing.  I can incentivize them to respond by telling them (if it's true) that I'm submitting similar work to others.

Remember, publishers need writers.  Mine need me.

Read for 1+ pages in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls that Michelle Obama was an important part of the campaign, but when she did a speech before the WI primary, she said "for the first time, I'm proud of my country."  It was a setback for her; he took steps to fix it, but it was already spoken, and the damage was done.  It made her want to stay home; but they weathered the criticism, and obviously overcame the negativity that ensued.

Read for 70 seconds in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee.  He quotes a poem which I quite like, by Hafiz.  But WITHIN the poem, Hafiz uses his own name as if it's someone else.  But besides that, the poem describes how we, every day, open doors of light in the morning; and how we should "stay close to the sounds."  I will study this poem again tomorrow.

Today, I've run out of time.

Read for 1+ pages in THE PERSIAN BOY by Mary Renault
