READING, WRITING

Read for 70 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says in our day, people (and especially high achieving types of people such as engineers, etc.) are having to choose between allegiance to their Empire/State/Country.... and the new Global Empire.  Most are choosing the Global Empire.

Harari sets the stage for the crossroads of commerce & civilization as it existed in Medieval Times (circa 1250 AD), SAMARKAND (a city in mid-East Asia), in which tribes and merchants from all directions met and interacted; he adds that they all paid allegiance to one Emperor.

Read for 70 seconds in YOU ARE A WRITER by Jeff Goins.  He says I should consider writing an email to publishers such as he wrote; it's quite clear how he's thinking.  I identify with that approach, and I will follow it.  But I will read the other two examples first.

Read for 1+ pages in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama.  He recalls that his campaign moved closer and closer toward success as he left his South Carolina win behind him, and moved on to Super Tuesday in February.  His strategy had to be to focus on the smaller states with more rural populations, rather than California and New York, where grass-roots volunteerism just wouldn't work as well.  He mentions Plouff, a news figure of today, who, along with others, helped him tenatiously cling to the hope of success.  They were gearing up for Super Tuesday.

Read for 70 seconds in WORKING WITH ONENESS by Llewelyn Vaughan-Lee.  He says we should seek to "marry" the two aspects of life:  (quoting the Sufi ideal) "outwardly to be with the people, inwardly to be with God."  I'm trying to crystalize these two aspects in my mind.  He ends (the paragraph) with an interesting phrasology:  "It enables us to infuse our spiritual essence into the cotre of life, where it is most needed.  It allows us to give ourselves back to God in the midst of His world, and thus make the world once again alive with His presence."  Well, I am reasoning...... if we are making the world "ONCE AGAIN" alive, then it must have been so earlier, right?  So what happened?
