(the only "1+" exercise is push-ups; I'm able to do 70 squats just fine; Sunday I'll do 15 push-ups and 35 squats)

READING, WRITING

Read 60 seconds in SAPIENS by Yuval Noah Harari.  He says that it's not natural for humans to go on holidays.  He cites 2 examples:  1)  alpha male chimps don't think of going to a neighboring tribe to visit, and 2) Egyptian kings stayed home to build pyramids - not ever thinking about going skiing in Phoenicia, or shopping in Rome.

The reason we now think of these things is because of "romanticism."  Not sure if he's right or wrong about this.  But I disagree that he can know what ancient kings or monkeys were thinking.  I'm betting that people (i.e., the throngs of people he ignores in this paragraph) took breaks and went to visit relatives in neighboring villages.  And I'm betting they did it back before the Agricultural Revolution, too.  It's just a sense I have about the nature of human beings being consistent over time.

I could be wrong.

*********************

Today's the 2nd day of my "Beginning again" routine.  I'm glad I've done it.  It is independent of my disappointment about david's deal.  It's something I feel I must do in order to have a physically happy life from here to the end.  The physical "happiness" will of course spill over into my mental & emotional states, and I'll be happier in general.

Controlling diet and exercise.  Slave to good habits.  Incremental improvement.
