    READING, WRITING

    Read for 80 seconds in A PROMISED LAND by Barack Obama. He recalls dealing with the responsibilities of his job (I.e., killing people when circumstances dictated such), and his sadness at having to do so. He was a liberal president, but could not afford to be soft on terrorism. The 2 wars (Iraq, Afghanistan) required him to face these huge challenges on behalf of the USA. He describes how sophisticated the US Intelligentsia needed to become in view of today's advanced technology.


    Read for 80 seconds in THE RIGHTEOUS MIND by Jonathan Haidt. He says that the "picture" he has drawn of homo sapien morality is incomplete: genes are selfish, and so are humans in varying ways, to varying degrees. But we are also GROUPISH. We love joining groups and working together (DO I??)
